Open Educational Resources

Open Oregon Educational Resources provides tools and resources to make equity, diversity, and inclusion primary considerations when faculty adopt course materials.

PDXOpen, from Portland State University, is a collection of open access textbooks and open educational resources (OER).

PhET provides fun, free, interactive, research-based science and mathematics simulations. We extensively test and evaluate each simulation to ensure educational effectiveness. These tests include student interviews and observation of simulation use in classrooms. The simulations are written in Java, Flash or HTML5, and can be run online or downloaded to your computer. All simulations are open source (see our source code). Multiple sponsors support the PhET project, enabling these resources to be free to all students and teachers.

Nonprofit organization based out of Rice University produces openly licensed textbooks for college and Advanced Placement courses. Thanks in part to funding by the Gates and Hewlett foundations, OpenStax textbooks are among the most commonly used open textbooks across the country and often come with important free ancillary materials for instructors, such as PowerPoint slides and homework answers.

Supports all of the post-secondary institutions of British Columbia in their efforts to improve teaching practices, especially as they relate to open education.

was initiated at the University of California, Davis, and is supported by a $5 million grant from the Department of Education Open Textbook Pilot Project. Its "Explore the Libraries" tab features OER in a range of subjects plus workforce materials. Ancillary materials vary by subject but include laboratory experiments, case studies, simulations, demonstrations and techniques, and interactive fossils.

Previously called Open SUNY Textbooks, Milne is a catalog of open textbooks authored and peer-reviewed by State University of New York (SUNY) faculty and staff.
